Printed on a Vandercook SP15. 50 copies, designed by Marcia Moore and executed by Danita Rafalovich and Marcia Brown, in heavy blue paper covers, red endleaves, exposed spine with leather tabs, a black leather-covered clamshell case with spine label, price $375. Castro’s narrative poem relates the biography and thought of Moses Maimonides (1135-1204), considered one of the most important Jewish theologians of all time. The print references the architecture and tile work of medieval Middle East synagogues in areas where Maimonides lived before his exile. Castro, poet laureate of St Louis and a leader of the literary community, died in 2008.
