The Stones of Stenness are one of a group of monuments that make up the ‘Heart of Neolithic Orkney’ world heritage site. Perched on the edge of the Loch of Stenness the stones, dated 3100 – 2900 BC could be the earliest henge monument in the British Isles, predating both Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids.
