2020 Oxford Fine Press Book Fair postponed

The Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association (PBFA), which organises the Fair, has reluctantly decided that the Fair must be postponed. They have sent out the following message:

“Due to the present circumstances, we have taken the decision to postpone the Fine Press Book Fair from the end of March until November 28th & 29th. The travel restrictions currently faced by a number of exhibitors and visitors, and the general uncertainty caused by the spread of Coronavirus, has already compromised the fair, and the only expectation – given the speed of developments – is that the impact would increase over the next two weeks. The frustration and inconvenience that this measure will cause would also have grown, had we allowed the situation to develop without taking action.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, or without due consideration of the alternatives, and we are glad that the venue has been accommodating in offering a new date at a juncture of the year when we can expect the current situation to have passed sufficiently to allow the fair to be the great success that it usually is.

We hope that this decision will allow as many exhibitors and visitors as possible to attend the fair on the new date, and welcome enquiries from either with regard to arrangements.”

The Oxford Fine Press Book Fair is a two-day fair held in the Oxford University Examination Schools on High Street in central Oxford. (Click here for details.) Typically, there are about 90 exhibitors, including presses, specialist book dealers, trade suppliers, and related organizations. Additionally, a series of lectures run concurrently with the fair.

The Fair Manager, on behalf of the organizers, the Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association (PBFA), is Henry Gott.
