At a North American FPBA board meeting on June 25, the board unanimously accepted the recommendation of nominating committee members Jane Siegel and Robert McCamant to select Julia Skinner as the editor of North American editions of Parenthesis, starting with Parenthesis 35, which will appear in fall of 2018.
Skinner is presently Rare Books Curator of the Bentley Rare Book Gallery, Kennesaw State University, Atlanta, Georgia. She holds a PhD from Florida State University in Tallahassee, and a Book Studies Graduate Certificate and other degrees from the Center for the Book at the University of Iowa. In her application she explained that “One of my greatest passions is making rare books, including fine press books, accessible and enjoyable. I continuously work to connect our collections with new audiences, and feel that this outreach work and the perspective it affords would be a strong asset in an editorial role.”
The magazine is produced by the North American and United Kingdom chapters of FPBA. North American issues appear in the fall; UK ones (edited by Sebastian Carter, who remains in office) appear in the spring. Members of either chapter receive both issues.
