The Fine Press Book Association is currently accepting applications for the position of North American Editor of its publication, Parenthesis.

The magazine is published in print twice a year, with one issue produced in the UK (edited by Sebastian Carter) and one, each fall, from North America. The North American editorship is a part-time position which pays the editor a stipend of $1600 per issue and has a term of three years.

The editor of Parenthesis is responsible for collaborating with a designer to produce a journal in line with the FPBA’s mandate to promote the traditions and contemporary practice of letterpress printing and fine press book production.

The editor will solicit articles and book reviews from a broad array of fields by diverse authors, work with those authors to edit and prepare their texts for publication, and manage book reviews. A proofreader is available to assist with each issue.

We are seeking an individual who has the following attributes:
• enthusiasm to continue the trajectory of Parenthesis while also bringing the initiative to develop new ideas directions for the journal
• experience in publishing
• familiarity and involvement with the fine press community (printers, collectors, institutions, etc.)
• the ability to collaborate successfully
• a commitment to recruiting and coordinating contributors and book reviewers
• a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while working independently
• willingness to work closely with the designer/printer of Parenthesis
