Shanty Bay Press at Codex 2011

Canadians Walter Bachinski and Janis Butler of Shanty Bay Press, located north of Toronto, exhibit their books and broadsides at Codex Book Fair this month. 

Page spreads and pochoir illustration from some of Shanty Bay’s books, such as Virgil’s Georgics, and Circus: The Artist as Saltimbanque.

Bachinski is the main illustrator of Shanty Bay Books.

Butler is responsible for presswork, typesetting and binding of Shanty Bay Press books.

Russell Maret at Codex 2011

At the Codex Book Fair in Berkeley this month, Russell Maret and photographer Annie Schlechter show Æthelwold Etc.(2011), and Prometheus Bound (2007), the tragedy of Aeschylus translated by Henri David Thoreau with smoke drawings by Maret.

Maret, a self-described “alphabetical fetishist,” shows pages from his newest book,  Æthelwold Etc. at Codex.
