Steamroller Printing Time in San Francisco

Two big steamroller-printing events:

–September 15 through October 20 (with a special opening reception Saturday the 15th from 7 to 9 pm) it’s “Rik in Detail,” an exhibit of Rik Olson’s linoleum-block/steamroller prints at the San Francisco Center for the Book, 300 De Haro Street, San Francisco.

–Saturday, September 22, from noon to 5: “9th annual Roadworks: A Steamroller Printing Festival” outside the Center on Rhode Island Street. It’s a day-long public printmaking showcase presented amid a selection of local food and fine craft vendors. Using a three-ton construction steamroller and an unlikely letterpress bed – the street – a team of artists and printers print large-scale prints from three-foot-square hand-carved linoleum blocks.
