‘Modernism in Print’ at U of Amsterdam

“Modernism: in print, Dutch graphic design 1917–2017” is the title of an exhibit opening soon in Amsterdam. It offers an overview of Modernism in Dutch graphic design from 1917, the year De Stijl was first published. The Dutch contribution to Modernism is placed in a wider perspective based on international typographic manuals, type specimens and key works by such designers as El Lissitzky and Karl Gerstner. The posters, books, printed ephemera and design drawings derive from the University of Amsterdam’s special collections and designers’ archives.

It opens June 16 and will close October 1 at the Special Collections exhibit hall of the University of Amsterdam library.
