The second kind presents an entirely different sort of opportunity, especially aimed at beginning printers. The Oxford Guild of Printers has two awards for different letterpress items (also published since the last Fair). The first is for a book costing £50 or less, and the second is for a single section sewn pamphlet. They will consider the relationship between typography and contents, the quality of the printing, and originality of design. Both awards will be cheques for £100. Entries can be posted to the Chairman of the Guild, Dr Miles Wigfield, Coneygar Lodge, Quenington GL7 5BZ, UK. They must be posted to arrive before October 23rd, and must be accompanied by a return address label and sufficient postage stamps so that your own packaging can be re-used. Alternatively books can be handed in before Saturday noon at the OGP table at the Fair, and collected on Sunday after 1530. This is the good and bad part: all items entered will be publicly exhibited by the OGP at the Fair. The bad part: they will be subject to handling. The good part: you need not buy a table to have your work exhibited at the fair!
